A joint operation targeting spaza shops in the Mopani District, Limpopo, has led to the arrest of 10 undocumented Ethiopian nationals.
Additionally, two documented foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly employing undocumented individuals.

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has expressed dissatisfaction with a contractor over delays in completing the renal and dialysis unit at Letaba Hospital, outside Nkowankowa in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, Mopani District.
Premier Ramathuba visited the hospital on Tuesday, 28 April, to assess progress following her initial visit on 7 April 2026.
The follow-up visit comes amid ongoing complaints from patients on social media about limited access to renal dialysis services.

Lekompo artist Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke appeared before the Polokwane Magistrates Court for the continuation of his bail application hearing on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
Proceedings resumed after a previous postponement granted to allow the State and the defence to submit closing arguments.

The matter was previously postponed to allow the State to submit its closing arguments, with the court possibly delivering judgment later today.

Police in Limpopo have launched an intensive manhunt following the escape of a 34-year-old male suspect from lawful custody on Sunday, 26 April 2026.
According to preliminary reports, Tumelo Raledi escaped at approximately 21:30 while receiving medical treatment at Maphuta Malatji Hospital in the Mopani District. At the time of his escape, he was under police guard at the facility.
Raledi is considered dangerous and had been arrested in connection with serious violent crimes, including rape, attempted murder, and two counts of murder allegedly committed between 2023 and 2025 in the Namakgale policing area.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the incident and assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to ensure the suspect is re-arrested without delay.
