Seismic refraction surveys are an efficient and cost-effective way to investigate the shallow subsurface. They are often used to determine depth to bedrock, locate buried channels or other features & map geologic structures. To learn more, contact us at info@sepgeophysical.com

How much do you know about Electromagnetic Mapping? EM mapping is a great tool for exploring potential resources or hazards, but it's not the only tool in the geophysical toolbox! If you're interested in learning more get in touch with our team at info@sepgeophysical.co.uk

⚠️ Last month, our team faced a high-stakes situation! A mineshaft collapsed close to a major pipeline. Our team deployed EM and GPR techniques to attempt to map if there was any further voids or mineshafts. #mineshaftcollapse #voiddetection

6 months ago we welcomed Gregor Airey to our team as a Junior Geophysicist. "I've had the best learning environment I could ask for - lots of time spent in the field collecting data and in the office processing it. It's been great to see our jobs progress from start to finish!"

Recently we undertook a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey at St. Patrick’s Church, Toxteth in order to map unmarked graves ahead of further archaeological investigation. The church graveyard only measures ~50 x 50 m but is believed to contain over 15,000 burials.

Geophysical methods are a valuable tool for archaeologists. By non-intrusively mapping the subsurface it is possible to build a detailed idea of what's going on before a spade enters the ground - minimising the disruption of any potential features of archaeological significance!
