Gil, that’s not what’s really happening. The government’s goal is to protect students and families while still bargaining fairly with teachers. Alberta already has record education funding and new classroom supports, and teachers are seeing those benefits. The Notwithstanding Clause isn’t about stripping rights or union busting. It’s there to make sure essential public services keep running when negotiations break down. Kids shouldn’t be caught in the middle. What you’re arguing for sounds like open-ended strikes that would hurt students and families the most. The government is protecting both the right to bargain and the right for kids to learn. That’s responsible leadership, not confrontation.
