Tip #4 Graded batten check Documentation should show the following as a minimum: ✅ Name of supplier ✅ Origin (imported and/or species code) ✅ Graded in accordance with BS 5534 ✅Basic size or sizes ✅ Type of preservative and method of treatment, if applicable

Tip#2: Graded batten check. Ensure each piece is correctly marked/stamped with: ✅ Supplier (Manufacturer) ✅ Origin - Imported or species code ✅ “Graded BS 5534 “ ✅ Size (25x38 or 25x50) @TheNFRC #safeworkingatheight

Tip #1 Checking for graded batten - Not undersized: ✅ 25-28mm thickness (tolerance -0mm/+3mm) ✅ 35-41mm for 38mm sized batten ✅ 47-53mm for 50mm sized batten ✅ Good graded batten will be consistently sized in thickness & width, and at a minimum with allowed tolerances
