The lab is thrilled to share @lough_kendall latest paper on the role of the Nectin-Afadin complex in palate formation. Read the thread 👇for more info and to learn about a contrast enhanced micro-CT method Kendall developed to visualize the murine oral cavity.

While this may be a strange time for us, these days feel normal for animals at Shedd. Our caregivers are constantly providing new experiences for the animals to explore and express their natural behaviors with. Let us know what penguin activities you would like to see! (3/3)

The adventure continues! 🐧🐧 This morning, Edward and Annie explored Shedd’s rotunda. They are a bonded pair of rockhopper penguins, which means they are together for nesting season. Springtime is nesting season for penguins at Shedd, and this year is no different! (1/3) 👇

Penguins in the Amazon?! 🐧🌴 Some of the penguins went on a field trip to meet other animals at Shedd. Wellington seemed most interested in the fishes in Amazon Rising! The black-barred silver dollars also seemed interested in their unusual visitor.

Wooot!! 🍾 We are celebrating Kendall's newest publication 📝 His exciting work elucidates a mechanism that corrects the orientation of a dividing cell in the later transition to telophase. Thread👇Read about its implications in cell fate outcomes and epithelial stratification

Excited to share the labs latest work. Led by @kevinmbyrd, this study finds a unique population of stem cells in the roof of the mouth that responds to chewing and injury. Read the @NIH paper summary tinyurl.com/r4fvx27 or Kevin's thread. Thank you to all our collaborators!

Can you ever get tired of the epithelium? During @MBLPhys we visualized for the first time a growing scale in a developing moth wing. @zeiss_micro Scales have a very precise microstructure that scatters light and generates structural color. #teamchitin Cyan-Nuclei, Magenta-Actin

Check out our first preprint 📰 🤯 @lough_kendall describes how mitotic spindle orientation is really a two-step process, and how basal membrane attachment controls the telophase correction step.

Scott Williams @SWilliamsLab from UNC shares that Affadin/Canoe isn't regulating LGN localization - its regulating basement membrane adhesion in dividing epithelial cells! Work done by student Kendall Lough @lough_kendall #TriCytoskeleton2018
