In 2025, China commissioned (brought online) approximately 78 GW of new coal power capacity. This was the highest annual level in a decade (and some sources cite figures around 70–95 GW net additions, marking an 18-year high for installations). For context, this exceeded India's total net coal additions over the prior 10 years (2015–2024), despite India having the world's second-largest coal fleet.

@Katherine_deves PM’s should not BBQ in a blazer.
It looks contrived.
He should be in hi-vis! 🤣

@chuzbucket Name one metric of human wellbeing that has deteriorated in the last 100 years from warming.
English

@SamKSS Absolutely, but the greenhouse effect is a real phenomenon. Rapidly increasing our planets temperature. With such a profound forcing on the climate system.

Pretending banning new coal mines in NSW will change the trajectory of global coal use and mining is a delusion.
Net zero is self harm.

@chuzbucket Fossil fuels have the advantage of being energy dense, portable, cheap and reliable. They have driven our incredible rise in human flourishing which still continues. So much to be grateful for.
English

@SamKSS Ok, mentality of a drug dealer. If I don't supply it, someone else will.
Having said that, one key thing I've learned about CC is that mankind is hopelessly dependent on fossil fuels.
Not only for energy & plastic but also to help cool the planet with the smog. Global dimming

@GemmaTognini And not a single woman present to ‘engage with the politicians’
English

@chuzbucket Such a stupid comparison.
There is no demand to throw plastic in the ocean.
Whereas there is huge and surging demand for coal. If we don’t produce it someone else will. 🤷🏼
English

@SamKSS Going by the same logic, it's ok for an individual to throw throw plastic in the ocean.

The voter importation plan is backfiring.
This constituency will soon all be voting for The Greens.
It’s happening in the UK.

Climate hoax at the bottom of the ocean: Ocean changes not greenhouse gases have driven climate change for the last few million years, says new study in Nature:
"Key climate shifts in the past 3 million years may have been more heavily influenced by changing ocean temperatures than greenhouse gases, according to analyses of ancient Antarctic ice cores published in two Nature papers. The findings provide new insights into Earth’s past climates."
What drives ocean temperatures? The Sun.

@chrisprimod The RBA made the decision off January data. The war had not started, you pelican.
English

@JEChalmers You are an inflation activist.
This is 100% due to your rampant spending.
English

Today the independent Reserve Bank Monetary Policy Board increased the cash rate by 25 basis points.
We already had an inflation challenge in our economy but the war in the Middle East is making this challenge worse.
At a time of immense global instability, this will put even more pressure on families and businesses.
Many Australians were already doing it tough and are now feeling the impact of conflict in the Middle East through higher petrol prices as well.
That’s why we’re rolling out responsible cost of living relief and taking action to give consumers a fair go at the bowser, through higher penalties, more surveillance and more supply.

Cuba has been brought to its knees, in three months, without a shot fired, because Cuba is 70% reliant on imported fuel.
Australia is 90% reliant on imported fuel.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal
🇨🇺Cuba enters its eighth straight night without power as protests spread across the island. No fuel shipments in three months. Bakeries running on firewood. And now Havana is talking to Washington for the first time, because they have no other choice.

JUST IN: Massive solar panel farm in Indiana destroyed by storms.
Indiana is a red state, yet its leaders have allowed Green New Deal policies.
Now, toxic chemicals from the broken panels will poison the soil, making it unusable.
The end result of solar farms is low energy, no soil, and higher energy costs for residents. Why is any red state allowing them?

@CaroDiRusso Self inflicted obsolescence.
The more expensive and difficult labour is, the more attractive technology becomes.
English

Labor and the unions are ideologically opposed to productivity.
Instead, they believe in turning up to work the least number of days possible, doing as little as possible while you're there and being paid as much as possible for it.
No wonder our economy is stagnant.
