This is the height of negligence. A patient complained after surgery and they didn't take any action. I wish the family had taken her to another hospital as soon as they noticed the careless attitude. Surgical equipment are usually counted to avoid mistake like this. >>>>QUOTE A strict protocol of monitoring and counting surgical equipment is mandatory during surgery to ensure that all items are accounted for before the patient's wound is closed. This process is critical for preventing "never events," such as leaving sponges, needles, or instruments inside a patient.  Who Counts: The counting process is usually led by the scrub nurse (or technician) and the circulating nurse together. They count aloud while both verify the number of items. When Counting Occurs: Preoperative (Initial): A baseline count is performed before the skin incision. Intraoperative: Additional counts are done when new items are added to the field or when there is a change in personnel. Closing Count: A count is done when closing a cavity (like the abdomen) and before skin closure. Final Count: A final, complete count is performed before the patient leaves the operating room. What is Counted: Items include sponges (gauze), sharps (needles, blades), instruments (forceps, clamps), and any other miscellaneous items that could be left behind. What Happens if a Count is Incorrect: If a count is incorrect, the surgeon is immediately notified, and a search is conducted. The team must recount, search the field, the floor, and in the trash. If the item is still not found, an X-ray is often taken to locate it before the patient is closed.  This process is a mandatory safety step involving at least two people to ensure patient safety and reduce the risk of further, unnecessary surgeries.  >>>>UNQUOTE Source: National Institutes of Health (.gov)

Zubby wrote “A doctor forgot a scissors in my sister stomach after surgery and we lost her 😭On the 28th March 2026. My sister okolie ngozi blessing ,went for a fibroid surgery at OAR medical center in ilepo abule egba ( igoke estate) ,which led to the beginning of of my sister dilemma .The operation was said to be successful , Just 4 hours after the surgery, they gave her milk and Milo. 3 days after the surgery(on March 31st) my sister was complaining about serious stomach pain ,and her stomach started bloating ,we suggested that the hospital should run a scan to know what is going on but they refused telling us even if we do scan we can’t see anything that will cause for Alarm ,but the severe stomach pain didn’t stop . After the back and forth for 10 days (April 7th) after the surgery they finially referred us to a clinic to do scan, and a nurse from the hospital followed,on getting to the clinic ,we found out they don’t even have a scanning equipment 🤦‍♀️.we decided to take her to another clinic to run a scan ,the nurse that followed was against it but we insisted .The scan result showed that they left An Artery forceps in my sister stomach 😭🤦‍♀️. We got back to the hospital showed them the result they decided on operating her immediately but as at then my sister was already too weak for another operation we begged them to refer us to a better hospital they refused and went ahead with the operation. Two days after the second surgery, she was still weak, her stomach still swollen. We kept on begging them to refer her, but they refused😭. On April 11, around 3 a.m.when their fuel finished while she was on oxygen, and they said they don’t have fuel again. We took her out of OAR Medical Centre and drove her to LASUTH . Six days before we took her out of the hospital Dr Abiodun Ojifinn, was nowhere to be found. Every time we called, he kept saying he would come the next day, but he never showed up. At Lasuth, they asked us to pay for the ICU immediately which we did, and she was admitted. Just one day in the ICU, they told us her heart had stopped. My sister Blessing Okolie could no longer breathe.”

The major reason why many Nigerians NEVER get USD / international remote jobs is because their resumes are only optimized for local hiring. If your goal is to get an international job in 2026, Here’s what you’re doing wrong and how to fix it: 1. Location Mistakes ❌ Lagos, Nigeria If you put your location this way, global recruiters might instantly assume timezone + relocation issues. ✅ Write your location as Remote (GMT + 1) or Remote (UTC + 1) 2. Local Terms that Global Recruiters Don’t Understand ❌ NYSC, HND, BSc (Ed), SIWES, NEPA, LGA, etc. Most foreign recruiters don’t Google acronyms. They skip. ✅ Translate your acronyms or remove them: • NYSC → National Service (1-year full-time work placement) • HND → Higher National Diploma (Technical Degree) And so on. 3. Duty-based Experience (local style) ❌ Responsible for managing social media That’s local hiring language. ✅ Use results + metrics: Grew Twitter account from 3k → 18k followers in 6 months, driving 40% increase in inbound leads. 4. Education Placed Above Experience Local recruiters care about this, but global recruiters don’t. ✅ Lead with skills & results, not school. Education goes after experience unless you’re entry-level with no tangible / real experience. 5. No Global Context ❌ Salary in naira ❌ Tools common only in Nigeria ❌ No timezone or async experience mentioned ✅ Highlight: • Remote collaboration • International clients • Tools used globally (Slack, Notion, Jira, GitHub, etc.) Bottom line: Global recruiters scan fast. If they don’t understand your CV in 10 seconds, you’re out. Hope this helps. Follow + turn on post notifications for more growth tips and remote job updates.

A strong cold email strategy can help you reach opportunities much faster. Here’s why it matters: ✅It highlights your research background, current work, and relevant soft skills ✅ It shows that you’ve taken the time to understand the professor’s research and can engage with it thoughtfully ✅ It helps you discover opportunities that may never be publicly advertised Many people send emails to professors in large numbers, hoping something works. But success often comes from being intentional and strategic. A well-structured, thoughtful email can make you stand out from the crowd.

“The richest Nigerians are from my region, your region can never” 🤣 …when you say things like this it’s like a child that doesn’t have bicycle, so he brags with his neighbor’s own. Guy, most Nigerians don’t have N1M saved in their bank accounts - including most people engaging in this childish arguments. 63% of Nigerians are multidimensionally poor, that is 133 million Nigerians that poverty want to choke. Which means for every 3 persons you see on Twitter, 2 is most likely wretched, with less than N400k in their bank account and zero asset. And this poverty latches onto people without care about tribe. It just gums on. …and yet you brag with another man’s bicycle like it is yours? Between 1980 - 1981; 987% of Chinese people lived in poverty. In the last 40 years they have lifted 800 million people out of poverty. Extreme poverty does not exist in China. The type that most people here experience. Don’t go and find what to eat, be arguing nonsense.

The motivation letter I submitted that got me one of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships is four years old. I have attached the link for you guys. Though old, you can find something useful that will guide you when writing your own. docs.google.com/document/d/19Z…
Ayo@Ay0Anjorin

How to write your Erasmus Mundus Motivation Letter: To begin with, there is no general ways to write it as program requirement and prompts differs depending on what they are looking for. However, some programs still want to know your motivation without any prompts. 1. The opening paragraph should tell the selection committee the motivation behind your application to their program. Your motivation can come from different experiences such as the environment you grew up, prevailing diseases and the impact it had your country , hands-on lab experience, energy related problems, war/crime and insecurity, political & economic instability, etc. This can form your opening paragraph. 2. The second paragraph should talk about your academic qualification. What did you study in your undergraduate degree? What classes did you took that relates closely with your chosen program and your grade if you graduate with a good GPA. 3. The third paragraph should be about your research experience. Here you need to summarise what research you have carried out. Don’t repeat what you put down in your CV. Instead, talk about what you did, how you did them and the result you obtained using the STAR (situation, task, action and result) approach. You can mention the tools/techniques you used for example in STEM related program python, R, synthesis, NMR, IR, UV molecular biology, protein and gene expression, DFT, schlenk line techniques and other tools you used during your research. 4. The fourth paragraph should be about what the program is going to give you. The curriculum is designed such that you’ve got to study in at least two different European countries. These countries offers different experience. Talk about the exposure, multicultural experience you’ll gain including opportunity to do internship in the industry etc. 5. The final paragraph should be about your career goal , future plan and conclusion.
