In 2015 the brother of Ghana’s sitting president imported heavy duty equipment through Tema Port.
He issued 44 cheques to pay the customs duties.
All 44 bounced.
He still walked out with the goods.
Not one customs officer stopped him.
Ghana Revenue Authority sat on it for two years without collecting a pesewa.
The moment his brother lost the election in December 2016 EOCO came knocking.
He was ordered to pay GH₵12.7 million within days.
44 bounced cheques. Two years. Zero consequences.
One election loss. Suddenly everybody remembered.

The mine is owned by an Australian company. Half the output is already locked in for an American company that had deals with Tesla and LG Chem.
Ghana gets between 5% and 12% in royalties. Right now because prices are low Ghana is getting 5%.
3.6 million tonnes of lithium leaving Ghana over 12 years.
The farmers near the site were told to stop planting 3 years ago because they would be resettled. Nobody has paid them a cedi yet.

Ghana paid $178 million to a company to monitor telecom revenue. Before winning that contract the company’s registered business was importing tin tomatoes. This is the Kelni GVG story. I will share more details tomorrow.
