@Pirat_Nation 5090 is a consumer card isn't it? I don't think there's a replacement for it. The Ascend is a server part. It means the PC graphics ceiling in China is lower. There's still some knock on effects for AI but local inference is generally a small market.

China has banned Nvidia’s RTX 5090D V2 graphics card and added it to the list of banned imports. The ban came while Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was in Beijing with the U.S. delegation for high-level meetings.
The RTX 5090D V2 is a special China-only version that Nvidia released in August 2025 with 24 GB of memory. It was built to follow strict U.S. export rules.
China is pushing hard for self-reliance in computer chips. Even though the card was modified to meet U.S. limits, the country now wants companies to buy homegrown options like Huawei’s Ascend chips instead.
Nvidia sales were already low in China, with this ban, they will be even lower.

@Pirat_Nation I do think it's a big deal when people use AI with the intention to infringe copyright, like doing an IMG2IMG of Weathering With You key art or Vydia claiming a copyright on Murphy Campbell's voice. But that's bad people using tools not bad tools.

Neverness to Everness (NTE) faces backlash from streamers, voice actors, and players for generative AI usage.
NTE is a recently released gacha game made in China by Perfect World studio. The game features open-world, "GTA-like" gameplay.
>Twitch streamer Ironmouse dropped her sponsorship of NTE due to generative AI usage.
>Players found AI usage in some cutscenes and background images that seem obviously AI-generated.
>NTE voice actor Maggie Elise (they/them) announced that they will not continue working with the game if gen-AI usage is not addressed.

According to recent Newzoo data, PC gamers are buying far more new game releases priced under $30 at launch than PlayStation or Xbox players, who mostly stick to premium $50 plus AAA titles.
The under-$30 price range has become a true “sweet spot” for PC gaming and gives a major boost to indie developers
This trend is powering faster growth in the PC market, with Newzoo projecting PC revenue will outpace consoles by 2028 through 6.6% annual increases versus 4.4% for consoles.

@Pirat_Nation @SV_108 I feel like these days if a game journalist complains, the game is on the right track. If they praise something, I'll be very concerned!
English

@Pirat_Nation People go to influencers to validate their opinions, and yes it's possible to form an opinion before playing. An entire cottage industry for gacha character gameplay leaks exists precisely because people want an informed opinion before buying and playing a character.

Fallout co-creator Tim Cain has seen a big change in how many people play video games today.
Many gamers no longer make up their own minds by playing the games or reading regular reviews and instead let influencers tell them what to think.
“Many gamers don’t even look to influencers for reviews; they look to influencers to be told how to think about the games,”
“So people don’t form opinions from the online video; they’re handed an opinion from the online channel they’re watching.”
He added that more and more people give up their own judgment, like “I don’t want to think about it. You tell me what I should think about it.”
Cain has returned to full-time game work at Obsidian Entertainment.
He said this influencer culture now shapes how games are made

@nichegamer Can we please have for ONCE a colorfull and happy hack'n slash ? Why it's always the same boring dark fantasy gore style ?

@nichegamer Agreed, it kind of blurs the lines if there's too much focus on affiliate sales.
For automation, it looks like WordPress supports MCP. An LLM could read through a backlog of articles, check if any game(s) are mentioned positively, add a widget, then save a Draft for approval.
English

@Selphea_ we're trying to automate it tbh, although our content is all over so we don't particularly focus on affiliate sales. we'll be standardizing game links soon tho

@Live2Doll That's innovation not arrogance. If you work on something it's natural to think of ways to optimize. The ceiling is always going up, with or without you so don't worry.

In the middle of recent commission work, I’ve also ended up achieving a lot of new technical breakthroughs along the way.
It genuinely feels like I’m creating something so ambitious it pushes beyond the ceiling of the entire industry,
and it’s still continuing to rise, like building a rocket 🚀
...Is it really okay for me to have thoughts this arrogant?
If this is a dream, then maybe I never want to wake up.
At the same time, though, my social account has been stuck in a long period of stagnation,
so my mood has become this strange contradiction of excitement and frustration 🫠🫠🫠

@omusubirolling1 The difference might be that the West has a strong do-it-yourself culture. Older Western games tend to support modding. For hardware they fought for Right to Repair legislation too.
The idea might be if they bought it, they have a right to repair/mod if it doesn't work anymore.

There's such a different response to this from Japanese fans and everyone else, most people are happy about a dead game being brought back by the community. But I've seen a bunch of Japanese fans angry about this because it goes against the wishes of Square Enix.

@RinoTheBouncer FFX's start felt like Tidus always getting thrown into water where a filler dungeon sequence occurs, the Sphere Grid is linear and battles were attack spam with heals. But it gets so much better later on. I'm glad I stuck it through but most other bad starts don't get better.
