This morning, federal and local law enforcement arrested 10 defendants—eight in Los Angeles County and two foreign nationals—charged in a 15-count indictment with stealing the identities of elderly victims, using that information to obtain title reports for residential properties, then soliciting millions of dollars in hard-money loans from private lenders by falsely representing the loans as secured by the victims’ properties.
These arrests are the tip of the iceberg in terms of the fraud permeating California. Under the leadership of @AGPamBondi, we will target rampant fraud committed against the government and private citizens alike.
The defendants arrested in L.A. County are scheduled to make their initial appearance and be arraigned this afternoon in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. Those arrested in Sacramento and Florida will make their initial appearances in federal court there.
The wire fraud and money laundering counts each carry a 20-year statutory maximum federal prison sentence, and the aggravated identity theft charge carries a mandatory consecutive two-year prison sentence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

4 of the 5 LAFD fire commissioners just walked, after seeing Karen Basura’s corrupt handling of the department.
She ignored warnings from the Fire Chief, cut the LAFD budget, EDITED the Palisades Fire after-action report to cover up her failures.
This mayor is a disaster. And she’s making LA less safe by the day. Basura has to go.

Seeing a BART car for the first time, Concord, 1965.
The first time the public saw a BART car was during a 1965 unveiling in Concord, seven years before the system began carrying passengers on Sept. 11, 1972.
BART officials framed the unveiling and tours at the agency’s Diablo Testing Facility in Concord as an opportunity to gather feedback and fine-tune the interiors to meet passenger needs.
“We’ve got to compete with the luxury of today’s autos,” then-general manager B.R. Stokes, who is seen in this edit, told the assembled press. “I think we’ve got something that only, possibly, a jet can compare with.”
The crowd, mostly press and BART employees, responded enthusiastically until they boarded the cars. Passengers loved the width of the seats but were unhappy with the legroom.

19-year-old champion wrestler Saleh Mohammadi executed by Iran in a public hanging.
Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi were executed as part of Iran's brutal crackdown on protests.
According to human rights groups, Mohammadi was tortured to confess "to the capital crime of waging war against God."
"His execution was a blatant political murder, part of the Islamic Republic’s pattern of targeting athletes to crush dissent and terrorize society," said human rights activist Nima Far.
The protesters were accused by the regime of killing two police officers with knives and swords. They "fast-tracked proceedings that bore no resemblance to a meaningful trial," Amnesty International said.
RIP.

Today, in Iran, in the middle of a war, the regime executed a 19-year-old national wrestling champion for the crime of joining January protests. 💔
After signaling to the world, including President @realDonaldTrump, that they would halt executions of protesters, the regime has done the exact opposite.
Three young protesters, Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi, were hanged in Qom after a sham trial.
Reports indicate torture. Forced confessions. No access to chosen lawyers. Closed-door proceedings. No right to appeal.
I call on @GlobalAthleteHQ to stand with Iranian athletes who are being silenced, imprisoned, and executed simply for raising their voices.
This is not just about sports. This is about human dignity.
