I am so proud of Australian politicians like Fiona Patten and Alex Greenwich. They showed courage, compassion and commitment to achieve voluntary assisted dying law reform in their states and now they are inspiring politicians in the UK.

I am sitting in the NSW Parliament watching the Second Reading speeches on the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill. We have just passed the 21 supporters that are needed to get the law passed. #VAD #nswpol

Queensland is now the fifth Australian state to pass #AssistedDying laws. Hopefully as soon as NSW Parliament resumes they will make this law reform a priority so that the terminally ill in our state have the same compassionate, end-of-life choices. #VAD4NSW #NSWpol

The Queensland #AssistedDying Bill just passed the Second Reading - 61 votes to 30. They will now go through the next stage considering some amendments with the final vote to follow. #qldpol #VAD4QLD

@Peter_Fitz My Nan took advantage of Vic’s legislation this past June. It made the whole ordeal of her passing (cancer) so much better for her, we all said our goodbyes and she went out her own way, with courage and dignity and with less pain. Absolutely grateful to those who fought for it.
