How long do you think HDFC Bank will take to transfer the money from your account to your nominee's after you die? Public sector banks get a bad rap, but it's been more than a year and we have not been able to get funds transferred from my now deceased husband's account in the country's largest private bank. The nominee is our adult daughter, there are no conflicting claims, the paperwork is clear, and yet for more than a year now HDFC has been giving us the run around. Get this paper, get that paper. Each time my daughter comes home for holidays, we have to take 2 days out to go and wait at the bank branch. Today, more than a year after the first application, they said a) we can't find the paperwork including the death certificate you submitted because the employee you submitted to is not here b) you have to get a stamp paper and notarise it for the auto debits that hit his account between the date of his death and the date the account was frozen (on the basis of the paperwork in point a, now non-traceable) c) you have to get HDFC Standard life to sign off because there is an auto debit for an investment from his account. (ME: they are the payee, he is the payer, why does the payee need to approve stopping a standing instruction? Bank: Hamare main aise hi hai). If you wait for 30 minutes, we'll get you the form. d) after 30 minutes. Sorry, we can't get the form, you have to go to their office and do it. By now it is 2.45 PM, HDFC Standard life office is at least 35 minutes away. They are open only till 3.30 PM. We are not sure we'll make it there on time. I call their number to ask if the branch is open tomorrow. Person: Sorry, I can't give you the information today, you will have to call and check tomorrow. (To repeat: HDFC Standard Life's call centre cannot tell you if a branch is working or not the following day) In all, we have spent many hours over many months trying to get this money in a case the bank officials themselves say "should not be complicated". What is worse is for my 20-year-old daughter to relive the trauma of losing her father each time we have to go and explain the case. Just today, we had to speak to three different people and start the story from the beginning. This is not just the bank's inefficiency, it is its utter callousness. (My husband also had money in Indusind Bank. It took one visit and two weeks for that to be transferred). The other, more important point, is that I have a job, we have the money to continue to pay for our needs without having to immediately access these funds. But I am certain that is not the case for many others. What about them? How can this be the system of a bank whose customers are dependent on it for giving them access to their own money?! It beggars belief. @HDFC_Bank @HDFCBank_Cares

@Ganikgagan Nothing can justify such behaviour, one possible reason behind this common behaviour is exhausting roster of pilots which gov tried to resolve with recent change and airline like indigo tried to excuse it

I don’t know what actually happened here, but this reminds me of my tipping point in 2022, when I lost respect for Air India pilots at Delhi Airport. Post security at the baggage repacking area, a pilot was sitting at the table. When I saw that no other table was available, I went towards that one as there was space behind it. While approaching, our eyes met, and it naturally flowed out of my mouth, “Sirji, vo bag repack ke liye hai” To which pilot responded, “Chal Nikal yha se” I stopped but still packed my bag on that table, thinking that this guy would now go out and fly. This guy is responsible for such a big bird and 100s of souls on board. Is it important to behave like a gentleman to be a pilot? If this guy is a senior, how will he behave towards his juniors? And a lot more. But I certainly realised one thing that day, give some power to Indians and the first thing they do is lose humanity.

This is a big security lapse if he was off duty travelling as a passenger, using the staff queue, Trying to cut corners and using entitlement. @DelhiAirport Your response is also required here, why is another passenger without a toddler or stroller allowed to use a crew lane? Was he directed by security personnel or was he just using his pilot entitlement. We need security footage recoverable till the matter settles. Also @DelhiPolice Should intervene in this matter now. We were also directed to use a different lane with a stroller and no other person was there. @DGCAIndia

@AirIndiaX, today one of your pilots, Capt. Virender Sejwal, assaulted me physically at T1, Delhi Airport. Here are the facts of the matter,: 🔸 Me & my family were guided to use the security check that the staff uses (also the PRM check), because we had a 4 month old baby in a stroller. 🔸 The staff was cutting the queue ahead of me. On calling them out, Capt. Virender, who himself was doing the same thing, asked me if I was anpadh (uneducated), and couldn't read the signs that said this entry was for staff. 🔸 A verbal scuffle broke out. 🔸 Not able to excercise restraint, the AIX pilot proceeded to physically assault me, leaving me bloody. The blood in the photograph (first comment) on his shirt is also mine. Here are my issues with the whole thing: 🔹 My holiday is ruined. The first thing I have done here is see a doctor. 🔹 My 7 year old daughter, who saw her father get assaulted brutally, is still traumatized & scared. 🔹 I have no clue how @DGCAIndia & @AirIndiaX can allow such pilots to fly. If they can't keep their cool in a scuffle, can they be trusted with the lives of hundreds of people in the sky? 🔹 How can @DelhiAirport get away with such mismanagement, combining staff entry with passengers carrying infants, creating chaos at a sensitive security area? I thought Airports were safe places! 🔹 I was forced to write a letter stating that I will not pursue this matter further ... It was either write that letter, or miss my flight and throw the 1.2 lakhs holiday bookings down the drain. @DelhiPolice, why can't I file a complaint after coming back? Must I sacrifice my money too, to seek justice? Will the CCTV footage disappear in the 2 days till I make it back to Delhi? To my friends & well wishers, I am pretty shaken, but nothing permanent. Can't say the same about my daughter though. 😢

कर्नाटक के बंगलुरु से एक हृदयविदारक घटना सामने आई है। 34 वर्षीय वेंकटरामन को छाती में पीड़ा हुई तो पत्नी ने बाइक पर बिठाया और एक प्राइवेट हॉस्पिटल ले गई। वहाँ से उसे बिना किसी प्राथमिक चिकित्सा के लौटा दिया गया क्योंकि वहाँ एक भी डॉक्टर नहीं था। वहाँ से वह दूसरे हॉस्पिटल गई, जहाँ पता चला कि वह एक मायनर हार्ट अटैक था, लेकिन उसे वहाँ भी ट्रीटमेंट नहीं मिला। हॉस्पिटल के पास एक एम्बुलेंस भी नहीं था। ऐसी स्थिति में पत्नी ने पुनः विवशता में, पति को बाइक पर बिठाया ताकि किसी तीसरे हॉस्पिटल में ले जाए। रास्ते में बाइक का एक्सीडेंट हो गया। पति सड़क पर गिरा रहा, वह आने-जाने वालों से सहायता के लिए पुकारती रही। कोई नहीं रुका। अंततः पति की मृत्यु हो गई। वेंकटरामन बच जाता यदि सरकार हॉस्पिटल को ले कर सजग होती, उसकी बनाई नीतियों का पालन होता। मैं जहाँ से हूँ, वहाँ के छोटे से छोटे क्लिनिक में भी रात में या तो डॉक्टर होता है, या वह पाँच मिनट में वहाँ पहुँच जाता है। बंगलुरू जैसी जगह में रात में एक एम्बुलेंस तक का न मिलना बताता है कि प्रशासनिक अराजकता किस स्तर की है। और हाँ, जिस नगर में लोग मरते व्यक्ति के लिए भी न रुकते हों, वह संवेदनहीन नगर बेकार है।
