As a member of the CBA, this is an embarrassing statement and deserves the scorn being heaped upon it. Public writings about the judiciary that reflect a growing feeling withing the general population are always legitimate discourse. Many positive changes to legislation and court have come about because of previous, similar criticisms (e.g. the bench is too white and male). Imagine the CBA taking a position to silence those critiques. The CBA should not be shaming journalists like @sarkonakj out of using their freedom of speech. How weak, elitist, and out of touch do you think that makes lawyers look?

Given everything that has been done to Canadians in the past 6 years, you’d think organizations like the CBA would stay incredibly silent, since it is the very people they regulate that have done these things to us all. It was lawyers who made it possible for every level of government to violate our Charter and Human Rights during Covid. Of all the lawyers in Canada, less than half a percent of them actually upheld and fought for our Rights. I probably know all of them personally. And you’re blaming the media for the courts being in disrepute? CBA, you’re absolutely delusional and have zero self awareness. You’re second only to the CPSO in stupidity and hypocrisy!!

Almost every business in Canada is scamming the system. First they have to offer the job and claim they found no candidates, I can assure you many Canadians would be happy to flip burgers at almost $40/hour. If you walk in and see no Canadian born workers, you should turn around and walk out.
