Even if she wanted to attend the event and someone was forcing her to touch his feet, #Ajith could have simply stopped them. Instead, he cracked a joke, as if it was entertainment. How is falling at a partner’s feet supposed to be cute, wholesome, or pookie behaviour ? For what joy exactly ? This isn’t just about Ajith, the real problem is the regressive customs themselves, which must be called out every single time. But the moment Ajith is involved, irrespective of any issues he gets into, he gets a special privilege pass where criticism is off-limits, and people bring up the weirdest excuses to justify it, no matter how ridiculous. And anyone who dares to criticise the regressive behaviour will be abused and called a nitpicker. Nobody is 100% perfect and everyone cannot be as spontaneous as expected, but the immense muttu from people makes it look so yucky ! Why can’t this just be called a mistake ? Why can’t he be criticised or questioned like anyone else ? From getting a Padma Bhushan for being “Apolitical” to brushing off a regressive act with a silly joke, he will still be praised instead of called out. He could have stopped it or made others not force it, but he didn’t. Nobody gets a free pass like him !!! Peak hypocrisy !!! We need more people to call out and tear down outdated, regressive customs and rituals. That’s the only way we will all wake up and change will happen. The more we normalise such things under the excuse of “tradition” and blind fan favouritism, the more we sink as a society.
