“ it is all right , benedict , ” she said , soothing their little boy as he coughed a few times . she then started feeding him again when he recovered .

as benedict gentle caressed the little boy his leg, his face lit up a little before turning away as he coughed. “my apologies-“

she nodded , getting herself and charles situated for her to feed him . the little boy latched pretty easily , which was a relief for her .
“ he would not eat earlier . . i was so worried . ”

as charles looked around the room, he was starting to become fussy again … benedict was quite worried that he might be feeling unwell again. “perhaps our little boy is hungry?”

she ran her fingers through the baby’s hair , breathing him in as she closed her eyes .

as charles immediately began to giggle, benedict admired the two. sophie and charles really were his entire world. “his illness seems to have gone away”

“ hi , my love , ” sophie chuckled as charles reached for her , happily taking him into her arms and kissing his little cheek .
“ i wish he could . . but i do love watching him grow as well . ”

as charles mad some soft noises, benedict gently laid charles down on the bed with a chuckle. “he seems to be doing well …”

“he is a mamas boy” benedict grinned a little as charles slowly woke up. he was rather calm and very aware. of everything around him.

she leaned closer to press a lingering kiss to little charles’ forehead .

“he is most definitely yours … he looks exactly like you” benedict knew that charles was his as well but he simply looked like sophie. he just had the eyes of benedict.

“ at times , i cannot quite believe that he is truly real . . that he is ours . . ”

as benedict nodded his head, charles was still holding onto benedict his shirt as he was asleep. perhaps they might be lucky tonight. “our little miracle…”

she reached over to gently caress their baby’s cheek with her thumb .
“ i cannot rest yet . . i think i need to watch him for a little while . ”

“have you been able to nurse him today?” benedict sat down slowly as he kept his eyes on sophie. he didn’t want her to push herself. “rest..”

she nodded , settling into bed as they reached their bedroom . she was exhausted , too .
“ i might attempt to nurse him again in a little while . ”

nodding his head, benedict continued to rub charles his back as they headed to their own room. it was obvious that everyone was being quiet for the sake of their son. “perhaps he might just sleep through the night”

sophie immediately nodded , gently running her fingers through the baby’s damp hair .
“ i am not letting him out of my sight . not until i know for certain that he is better . ”

gently rubbing charles his back, it was quite obvious that the little boy was slowly falling asleep. being a father was still very new for the both of them. “perhaps we should allow him to sleep with us?”

sophie stepped closer to the two loves of her life , resting her head on benedict’s other shoulder , keeping charles’ little hand in hers and kissing it tenderly .

as benedict stepped outside with the doctor, he handed over the required payment. everything was quite clear but yet, it felt so unclear in some way. walking back into the room, benedict his eyes softened at his wife with the wailing infant, handing over a cold towel. -
