“Care delivered in corridors and other non-clinical spaces is unsafe, undignified and unacceptable. It violates the privacy of patients and leaves staff without access to essential, life-saving equipment. There are no circumstances under which it constitutes good, safe care.
“What once used to be an exceptional circumstance, is now happening regularly in our hospitals. Health leaders and the secretary of state must waste no time in eradicating this shocking practice in the interests of patients and staff.”

@AbbieSBrooks Thanks for highlighting this in these terms - much better than sending the 2016 contract letter which is just antagonistic and pitches GPs and the hospital against each other. This will be the focus of the NY&Y interface work-delivering for our patients.

Letters can take days to be electronically submitted from the hospital.Sometimes a few days to get in front of the eyes of someone who can action the prescription in general practice.
I know it’s more convenient, but it’s really dangerous with potential for delay & harm. #teamGP

Can we please stop with the “your GP will prescribe you antibiotics” letters.
Recently getting lots … eg your CXR done during admission shows infection, your MSU sent from clinic shows infection…
Writing “the patient prefers to collect these from the GP” doesn’t make it safe.
