To me YA is not a yes or no book attribute but more of a scale: -is there a school? -is the protagonist a teen? -is there elemental magic? -is the protagonist a Mary Sue? -is the plot convenient? The more of these questions has a yes answer, the more YA a book is.

my favorite d&d minion died recently. he was a horrible, hateful, twisted being (my fault for Animate Dread Warrior-ing him)
