Another lovely day for some Forest Schools activities. We made nature mobiles using twigs, leaves and lichen from the school grounds. @stmarysmaryhill @DearWild #outdoorlearning

It was a bit too windy and rainy to get outside for some Forest Schools yesterday so we practised some knot tying instead. @stmarysmaryhill @DearWild

Some P6 children had their first Forest Scools/Outdoor Learning session today. We made natural portraits out of leaves and twigs around the school. @stmarysmaryhill @G20YouthProject @DearWild

This week we were investigating sound and vibrations in the STEM Room. Our younger children made ‘seagull squakers’ and the older ones made a simple musical instrument. @stmarysmaryhill @EdSciFest

P6 and P5 have been finding out about electricity and basic circuits. We had great fun lighting up the bulbs and 3 boys even made a police car out of cardboard and used the bulb and battery as the flashing light!

Some of our older children have been finding out about the manufacture of shoes and had a go at making their own. We had many different styles including a high heel. Great teamwork today too😀 @stmarysmaryhill

In the STEM Room this week, the children were finding out about weak acids that can be found in everyday foods and drinks. @stmarysmaryhill

Some of our P6 pupils helped to brighten up our school fence by planting sweet peas. We can’t wait to see them flower and hopefully collect their seeds to replant next year. @stmarysmaryhill @KSBScotland

Thanks to these 4 green fingered girls our 5 apple trees are now safely planted in the school orchard. Many thanks to The Apple Tree Man and @EcoDrama1 for donating the trees and providing training on how to plant them🌳 @stmarysmaryhill

P6 had an amazing week with @IntoUniversity at the Maryhill Hub where the focus was Engineering. The children demonstrated some amazing teamwork and research skills and finished off the week with a graduation ceremony @UofGlasgow @stmarysmaryhill @STEMglasgow

We had a fantastic day with @EcoDrama1 The children got to watch a performance of The Forgotten Orchard and then had the opportunity to taste some delicious apples. @stmarysmaryhill @G20YouthProject

P6/5 made the most of the better weather today and got outside to plant our @EdinaTrust spring bulbs. Our rain gauge and thermometer are in place and we are all set to measure their progress over the coming months. @stmarysmaryhill @KSBScotland
