Now that the Major is behind us, it's time for an unpopular opinion: StarLadder did a great job. I am speaking purely from our perspective as a team, involving players and backroom staff. Hospitality, hotel, location, spaceous practice rooms, PCs, and equipment were all top-notch. As some of you know, we had a medical emergency with one of our players at a very inconvenient moment. A Hungarian-speaking player manager volunteered to help, assisted in bringing a medic to the hotel, and later accompanied our staff member and player to the hospital after work hours, following our game against Mongolz. He did not have to, but he stayed until the very end, until the player was fully treated. They returned to the hotel together at 4 AM, and PlaMa was again present and ready on stage for tomorrow's games. This should be a standard in our ecosystem: a proper support system and a helpful team always ready to support the players spending 250+ days abroad and away from home, but I can't say it always is. TOs and PlaMas, at times, tend to forget that it all starts and ends with the players. Content creation, narratives, activations, and other initiatives that have been more prioritized in recent years are important, but let's never forget where and how CS esports and competitive gaming in general started and grew big - because of the gamers who are bloody good at what they do - clicking heads on monitors. Every single issue we had in Budapest, every misunderstanding, every message in our coordination group was answered within minutes. As someone whose job is to absorb and shield players from anything that does not involve keyboard and mouse, my team and I could not be more grateful for the given support. A few minor technical issues upon arrival were resolved immediately. Media day was smooth and short, and yet delivered decent content. StarLadder had enough staff on site, both senior and junior, and everyone was willing to help and take responsibility. It has been six years since I last attended a StarLadder event, the Berlin Major, and while my expectations were not particularly high, I can honestly say that the Budapest experience was among the better ones compared to the last few Majors we have attended. Big kudos and respect to @EL_pANdaRL, @tiggztv, @newwofficial, their freelancers, and the entire @StarLadder_CS team.
