NASA’s pioneering work in chemical rocketry paved the road for the now-thriving private industry in the U.S., opening up Earth orbit for business. A new focus on nuclear propulsion could open up the Solar System itself. bigthink.com/the-present/wh…

One in ten women have exercise-induced orgasms. In a new study, researchers interviewed 21 women about their experiences with it. The triggering exercise is typically vigorous, repetitive, and/or demanding of core abdominal muscles. by @SteRoPo #google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">realclearscience.com/articles/2025/…

@HannaDohmen Hi, Hannah! I'm a journalist currently working on an article about China's espionage efforts to gain ground in the semiconductor race. I was hoping to ask you a few questions as it seems you might have some expertise on the subject. How can I best reach out to you?

Mostly interested in the basics: what is it, what are you trying to do, what was your inspiration, is there any competition, how do you picture it being used (at home, in school), etc. Do you have time for a 30-minute interview any time in the next week? Thanks for your time!

This is always a pertinent adage, but it seems extra pertinent today: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

@AjitPai Hi, Mr. Pai. Curious if you'd be interested in a 30min interview for @bigthink's issue examining the past, present, and future of the Internet? Would love to get your thoughts on the Internet as an invention, its promise, and its future as AI and other inventions arise.

2. In your article, you note that people are turning to TikTok and Dr. Google for their mental health quandaries as proper mental care can be hard to come by and expensive. Do you think this process of self-diagnosis is overall helpful or harmful?

@declangrabbmd Hey! I'm a journalist currently writing an article about the potential benefits and drawbacks of spreading mental health awareness on TikTok. Was hoping you can provide some thoughts, considering your 2023 post on the topic in BMJ.

@SkepticalDDS Question for you! Systematic reviews suggest that brushing with a fluoride-containing toothpaste is very effective at improving dental health, but could one get the same benefits from simply brushing without toothpaste and using a fluoride mouth rinse daily?

@SteRoPo Conceivably yes. The main variables would be if the fluoride rinse had the same concentration and duration of contact with the teeth as the toothpaste, if the teeth were clean when the mouth rinse was used, etc. If those are kept constant, it would be the same.

#2. Do you think there is an optimal flow-rate rate from a water conservation standpoint? (Standards in the U.S. are 2.5 gal/min or lower from shower heads.) Or should we keep standards as they are and maximize the pressure coming out of shower heads?

#1. Why did pressure vary so much across the showers? Is it because the shower heads varied in their flow rates? Did showers on lower floors have more pressure? Any other reason?

Hey, @ianwalker. I'm a journalist for @freethinkmedia covering your recent preprint on the intriguing link between shower water pressure and water consumption. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind taking the time to answer!
