So this time last year I was at a loss with the DClin process. One year interviews and next nothing! But this year I've had interviews and been fortunate to have a place on the DClin! I almost didnt apply this year but so glad I have one more try before plan b! #dclinpsy

Just got back from a holiday to Egypt 🇪🇬 #dclinpsy updates after my hols are 4/4 no interviews this year! Hard to process as feels like a step backwards from last year 2/4 interviews, 1/4 reserve place. So now time to have midlife crisis / reconsider career paths! #psychlife

@_bxthmcculloch Empathise fully with this! Same for me with Liverpool. Feels heart wrenching as applied hoping for second chance at interview and put in practise the feedback i got! Difficult process! Goodluck with other courses!

@LeahOrme Sorry the hear this its really shit! And just shows clear inherent flaws in the system that one year your good enough and next year the application doesn't even met criteria for an interview. I'm feeling frustrated at this process :(

Very frustrated to not have received an interview invite to Oxford #dclinpsy despite being interviewed there last year and direct feedback being I just needed an additional year and I would be ready for training. Illogical

@LeahOrme I find it difficult to accept 'the other' career paths too because CBT is not my favourite intervention and every other psychological related career is mostly CBT.

Feeling quite frustrated at the messaging from people who reason that “the dclinpsy is just a job”. Yes, it’s a job, but training offers 3 years of job stability, upskilling, and recognition of the skills you’ve spent years building up to that point.

Normalising rejection. Rejection 2/4 this time from Liverpool where last year I interviewed and was offered a reserve place for. But now not even worth interviewing! Numbers of applicants shot up tho! 800!

@ClinPsychDavid Yeah I understand this! Quality might have gone up too of applications so even if mine improved the overall quality was higher!

@StephB_2 Sorry to hear that, it can knock your confidence. However, do keep in mind that the no. of apps any course gets goes up & down a lot each year. Your app could have been scored higher this year than it was last, but that particular course might have got a lot more apps this year🤞

My #Dclinpsy process has started with 1 rejection. Little disappointing as its a university I was interviewed last year at! Makes me feel extremely anxious about the other outcomes

@Edge_mo That baffles me! Screening test I thought everyone with minimum criteria were invited to! Baffling process. Yes I have 1 screening test and 2 more to hear from! So still some hope!

@StephB_2 The year I got on I was rejected by a uni that invited me to test the previous year. If you are yet to hear from other courses there is still hope 👍

@lucedavis2 Yeah some feedback even just scoring would be great like in my head the data is there if they've gone through it but guess its admin time to send out! I'm rooting for you too! Have you still got 3 to hear back from?

@StephB_2 I completely agree. I even added a MSc to my qualifications that I didn’t have last year. I can’t fathom why it was a rejection this year with all that but last year i was invited to interview. Frustrates me no feedback is given for applications. I don’t know what to work on.

@lucedavis2 Oh sorry that you're in the same boat! It's so shitty. And just so different to typical career world where 1 years more experience would equal better chances or outcomes! Fingers crossed for the rest of your choices! Take care of yourself over the coming months as its hard!

@ahyun_Nim Thanks and sorry you feel the same! It's so crappy and so different year to year! Like last year felt hopeful with x2 interview and reserve place going into this year but now i already feel deflated! I have a screening test and then wait x3 outcomes from applications!

@AliceNewton_ I'm equally struggling with Sheffield rejection, even more so as I was interviewed by them last year. Although didn't expect to get one automatically it has made me feel like I've done something wrong this year! Equally struggling with similar emotions as your last sentence ❤

Well that’s the first dclin rejection in from Sheffield. As usual I’ll tweet openly throughout this period as I feel it’s important for people to hear the unsuccessful stories as well as successful. Feeling a little sad and lost- I’m struggling to know what more I can give.

DClin submitted and you'd think after the many years of applying it would feel less stressful! Goodluck to everyone! Now to relax 😌
