@Liz_ORiordan @StephenBevan @Veronica_Foote_ Our thoughts go out to the King following his cancer diagnosis. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer - royalty is not immune. Hopefully this will counteract any lingering stigma about having cancer. Our very best wishes to the King and Queen.

Public vs Public sector worker sickness #absence rates have always been used as a ‘wedge’ issue & as a way of highlighting wider prejudices about ‘malingering’. Here’s a 2016 piece in which I look at what the, er, evidence says theconversation.com/do-public-sect…

Once again, our old friend Jacob Rees-Mogg is on a one man mission to demonstrate why he is unfit to hold any position of responsibility in government. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

New figures suggest that obesity-related illness is estimated to be costing the NHS £19.2billion p.a. and productivity losses at around £15.1 billion, with these figures set to rise. We've done some work in this area.. 🧵1/ lbc.co.uk/news/obesity-e…

Pleased to have contributed to this important @WhatWorksWB & @mariecurieuk guide on supporting employees with a #terminal diagnosis. Since my own terminal #cancer diagnosis I’ve thought a lot about the ways #HR professionals & others can offer compassionate & practical help.

My comment on the govt's new Back to Work Plan: employment-studies.co.uk/news/back-work… There's welcome new measures here, but it risks being outweighed by the nasty, divisive and unnecessary rhetoric about 'coasters' who 'take taxpayers for a ride'. Completely counterproductive. 1/

Our Labour Market Stats briefing is available. Ahead of the #AutumnStatement the data shows that more should be done to boost labour & skills supply, which could address skill shortages, support economic growth, raise living standards & control inflation. bit.ly/3sHqAVX
