@greta_krendel @Lizzy11268 Yes, I think the biscuit was named after him. My editor and I had a discussion about whether or not to capitalize the G for that reason, but in the end elected not to. I’m not sure what the connection is between the general and the biscuit. Maybe there’s a novel in there 😂

@Lizzy11268 We called them that too & when I was doing O level History I remember learning about Garibaldi in the ‘Unification of Italy’ topic. Was the biscuit named after him? I’ve always wondered. Oh & is the book ‘The Phoenix Ballroom’? Another great story by Ruth Hogan. Loved it.

Reading a book (the author may recognise this if she see's) Sudden nostalgia!! Character refers to her Gamma as calling Garibaldi biscuits "squashed fly biscuits" and my Mum too! I called them that throughout my childhood! Anyone else? Do they still exist?
