Just tried this new ChatGPT prompt: "Split the data into 5 price ranges and show the % of sales in each range " Then copy and paste the "Price" and "Sales" columns from H10's XRAY. Here's what'll happen ⬇️ (this is real data from a product I'm launching) Price Range 1 - less than $30 Total Sales: 543 Percentage of Total Sales: ≈ 27.91% Price Range 2 - $30 to $49.99 Total Sales: 61 Percentage of Total Sales: ≈ 3.13% Price Range 3 - $50 to $89.99 Total Sales: 217 sales Percentage of Total Sales: ≈ 11.14% Price Range 4 - $90 to $129.99 Total Sales: 12 Percentage of Total Sales: ≈ 0.62% Price Range 5 - $130 and above Total Sales: 362 Percentage of Total Sales: ≈ 18.60% So what does this mean? Basically there are more units (or just about the same) being sold above the $30 price range than below. Plus I can see the market has a decent spread of sales among different price points. This is good because it means you won't get stuck in a price war where everyone continually drops their price to get sales. Enjoy deep dives on Amazon FBA? Follow for more

@EvanSwanson_FBA Another tip for keywords selection is to target same root KWs at a time, for example if your product has keyword research shows different roots that accumulate most of the KWs, separate the most demanding root KWs and try to rank them and then move on to other root KWs

I learn by doing (who doesn't). Even if I tell you my mistakes... You'll probably still make them. But for what it's worth. Here are 4 lessons about Amazon I learned the hard way: 1) Not understating Tariffs I've said it before. I'll say it again. Ship DDP. DDP = your freight forwarder covers ALL the costs to transport your goods from point A to Z. The opposite of DDP is DDU. DDU is where you pay for transport from point A to Z BUT also get a bill for duties & tariffs when your goods land in the US. I shipped DDU on my first shipment. And I got a whopping 25% tax bill. I had to drop $3-4K to cover it. Yes, I did look up the HTS code of my product and find the expected tariff rate which was 8%. But I did not know that the Trump Tariffs would screw me over. So just remember... when people say you can start Amazon with $1k. They're clueless. $1,000 mistakes are easy to make. 2) Not negotiating hard enough I used an agency to help me source my 1st product. That agency used a trade company. A very good trade company that's also used by an aggregator (they love to send me photos of them together). The cost per unit on my initial order was $12. And the sales price on Amazon was $29.99. The agency told me that's the final unit price. They've already tried negotiating. That's a 2.5x markup. 🚩 When I launched the product I noticed I was losing money every day. That's when I learned relying on other people to build my business was a TERRIBLE idea. I needed to learn everything myself. STAY AWAY from done-for-you Amazon services. You gotta learn the skills yourself. Otherwise your business will end up falling apart. So I went on Alibaba, found a supplier selling the same (simple) product for $5.50, asked my trade company to match it, and bravo, my COGS got cut in half. P.S. I share my story for the 1 person who might be in the same spot as I was. Don't let people sell you BS. Due you due diligence on price negotiation. See what other factories are selling at. Drag out conversations with a factory over a week and then finally say "I can place this order today if you give me x price per unit." Now my goal is a 5x markup from landed COGS. That usually shakes out to be around 80% ROI. 3) Launching with too many KWs I wanted to experiment with a lot of KWs. My mindset was, "You never know what works until you try it. But once I know I'll be able to dial in PPC spend. But at first I'm gonna target every keyword that seems relevant so I can get the most traffic." But PPC doesn't work like that. 80% of sales come from 20% of KWs. Focus on the 20% when you launch, ignore the rest. Having too many keywords dilutes account CVR and increases wasted spend (and bootstrapped brands don't have room for wasted ad spend). 4) Not having specific ACOS targets Every campaign had a $100 daily budget. I've heard that setting higher campaign budgets sends signals to Amazon's algorithm that you're willing to play (more so than competitors who have a $25 budget). But I didn't have a have a hard ACOS target. And I didn't split up my keywords into different tiers (i.e., accepting a high ACOS on words that are propping up organic ranks). I was happy if each keyword was between 30%-60% ACOS as long as my TACOS wasn't outrageous. But my TACOS was outrageous. It stayed at 18-23% for months. I needed it to be 15% or below. Found out that loose ACOS/ROAS targets are NOT good. Sounds obvious. But splitting keywords into tiers, settings ACOS targets per KW, setting adjustment parameters on when to adjust bids per KW, and monitoring how PPC impacts organic ranks.... That's a hard 1st rodeo. I finally got ruthless with my account. Turned off ALL keywords with bad ROAS (less than 4). That saved me 9% on my TACOS. Sales did decrease but the profit got healthier. If you're building on Amazon, hit me with a follow. I share everything I'm learning publicly (no holding back). Also feel free to DM me anything Amazon related (or if you have a good recipe for Queso, been trying to find one for a while).

I picked the wrong supplier. Set me back 3 months. But over this time I've learned: - Better questions to ask factories - How to deal with failed inspection reports - More about the manufacturing process for my product Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow.

@the_alex_d_ Alex, by your own experience nowadays how much time on average would it take for a single product to achieve consistent profitability of 2k$ on investing 10k$ in Amazon PL launch

You can invest $8-10k into a product to sell on Amazon. And it will generate around $2k a month net profit. That's $24k a year in your pocket, from an $8-10k investment. Pretty nuts when you think about it.
