We want more creative jobs in the North East.
So, we’re investing £2m to open a new @NewWritingNorth Centre for Writing and Publishing in the North East in the Old Post Office building in Newcastle.
For too long, talented people in these industries had to to go London to succeed. I have promised to fix that.
With this investment we’re a step closer to writers, publishers and creatives having the home they need to tell the our story and tell it here.

@JohnSimpsonNews It would be fitting if we had a statue of the composer George Ridley (born in Gateshead) in Newcastle. Or even a local theatre named after him?
