But the baselines was different and the culture they were raised in are different so it’s impossible to draw comparisons. You’re also assuming liberalism is synonymous with progress and advancement and that isn’t a good assumption to make. Much of what people call liberal today isn’t very liberal at all. Continually moving left isn’t necessarily progress or “liberal”. You’re getting hung up on a term.

There is an unlimited number of divergences that could happen, I’m making the point that they were extremely liberal and doubted by conservatives in the same way liberals are now.

How can you have any idea what they would extrapolate to? Different worlds, different technology,; it’s too different to say this in weighed direction. How do you know Jefferson would flip out at black equality and be a neo Nazi or Ben Franklin a Libertarian, or maybe one of them would embrace their gay since it’s accepted now and become a lgbtq activist.
