#SpartanNation; Its Better Over Here

Some coaches try to be everyone’s friend. Others just yell and demand more. But the best coaches do both. Coach Keith Ross calls it “love tough.” You build real relationships with your athletes. You show them you care about them as people. And because they know you care… You can hold them to a higher standard. The best teams aren’t built on fear. They’re built on trust, accountability, and standards. When athletes know their coach truly cares about them… They’ll let you coach them hard. What's the best advice you've received as a coach? @SumnerFootball @WSFCA1

Nowadays, too many athletes spend the offseason upgrading the wrong things... New gloves. New cleats. New highlight edits. More camps. But none of that actually makes you faster or stronger. Two time state champion head coach for Sumner High school, Keith Ross explained it perfectly on the podcast: “You don’t need to paint the car and wax it… you need to go get a new motor.” If you want real results in your sport, the offseason has to be about building horsepower: - strength - speed - consistency in the weight room - showing up even when nobody’s watching The athletes who treat the offseason like an investment are the ones who dominate when the season starts. And like Coach said… The weight room doesn’t go on vacation. Want the full episode with Keith Ross? Comment PODCAST and I'll send you the link. @SumnerFootball @WSFCA1

They were the defending state champions. Then the season started... Loss. Another loss. Then their rival beat them by 40 points. Many teams would spiral when that happens. Coach Keith Ross didn’t. When they talked in the locker room the next week about it, one of the players responded: “You can do nothing about it… or you can change.” From that moment on, the focus shifted. No excuses. No blaming. Just getting better every single day. By the end of the season… They beat the same rival in the semi finals and won another state championship. Sometimes the loss you hate the most is the one that forces you to become better. Want the full episode with Keith Ross @SumnerFootball Comment "PODCAST" and I'll send it over.

PLAYERS: The playing time you want during your season is often earned by what you do in the off-season.

After a call with @CoachLapuaho I’m blessed to have received an offer to play D1 football at San Jose State University! @SumnerFootball @BrandonHuffman @NickFarman55
