Compared 5.5 and Opus 4.7 tonight. Big things is that they’re both good enough for what I’m doing. However, 1 allowed me to figure out a problem and didn’t hit a rate limit. The other used 32% in 1 prompt. Honestly at this point I think using 5.5 to handle the big things is the best option and something like Kimi k2.6 as an even cheaper coding powerhouse could be possible. Hands down though Codex is better than Claude Code right now. Claude has to figure out their usage limit problem and if they really believe that the best way is pushing away smaller customers that’s their choice.

I did indeed! Kids have been sick so haven’t had a ton of time to play with it but initial impressions are really good. It found flaws in my operations markdown file, hardened my security with connections of railway and supabase and solved an admin platform pass through I didn’t know existed. Going to play with it a lot more tomorrow and tonight but impressed so far and way more cost efficient than Opus 4.7

it's really the dumbest fucking thing I've seen from Anthropic you know how much I love them but this is borderline suicidal they could've just said: "here's Haiku and Sonnet 5 and btw Pro subs no longer get access to Opus and only low thinking effort" but removing claude code entirely is such an idiotic move when everything you are known for is coding especially in the same week we likely get Spud/GPT-5.5 and potentially DeepSeek-V4 they are begging you poor shits to unsubscribe and to either pay up or to get lost so that they can allocate that juicy compute to higher-margin customers

@Curline1222 This is exactly why I wanted this. Originally I was planning to build around 3.1 flash live from Google but then I thought about it and making it so I can always use the best model available is something I really want.

@Suolar_ I heard OpenAI is planning to release Realtime V2.

Why I built my own infrastructure for Ai voice came down to the ability to connect anything I want and the ability to ensure the the prompting can be done exactly the way I need it without having to rely on that being pre determined. There’s a lot of good companies that do this but none gave me the control I wanted. Some had the ability to be dynamic for the prompt but lacked the voice abilities for latency. Others had great latency but were stuck on prompting. Others locked me into an ecosystem that I’d have to tear apart if I wanted to switch. This gave me control over every aspect of making it work.

Codex is doing 2X until May 31 so the standard $100 5X plan becomes a 10X, and the $200 20X plan becomes a 40X. Best time for $100 or $200 plan in particular, $200 plan is very difficult to exhaust, I have been doing so many crazy things with it, burned through 30% coding all day and all night on xhigh fast mode.

Potentially the last thing I’ll build out with Claude is my own AI voice host. No retell, no VAPI, my own setup. Just tested it and it’s working. Can’t wait to see what OpenAi is cooking up for tomorrow but felt good sending off Claude with this project wrapped.
