@NickNice85 I decided to get my daughter a 7a so I could try it out. Then I'll decide for sure, but I'm mostly nervous about the size of the pro. My hands are smallish and a huge phone is not good for me.

Las year Tensor G2 had some thermal issues, battery issues etc.
Just go for the 8 Pro.
I know it's more expensive but if you are planning to keep it for long you'll get 7 years of major updates.

@Susan_Wilkinson 7a gets the job done 👍 also a noticeable upgrade for 3a unless you want to spend more.
8 is quite expensive $100 ($699) more than last year 7 ($599)
