My personal stance on the latest Glasses Malone/Drake convo. There isn’t a lot in this life that I really, REALLY care about, and hip hop is the one thing I care about the most. It has shaped who I am and who I’ve become in so many ways over the years, even though I’m not a part of it as a white Canadian. I’ve never found a word that can truly do justice to how much I love this culture. From 2Pac, who helped me understand the soul of it and what hip hop really represents. To Guru, who taught me the rules of the game, what is respected in this space and what isn’t. To what Kendrick Lamar did in 2024, which is the moment I decided to radicalize my protectiveness of hip hop even more. It’s like it woke up something in me. So when I see someone trying to burn it to the ground on his way out, i’m going to take some measures to protect it that some people might deem too extreme. But if that’s the case, maybe ask yourself: how much do you really actually care? If you press play on that Ice-Agent album on May 15th and, by doing so, give streams and money to that man — HOW MUCH do you REALLY CARE ? At the end of the day, it’s to each their own, I guess. It’s just that some people don’t seem to see the gravity of his lawsuit and what he is pushing in those papers (if you actually pay attention to it 😑).
