“Effective immediately, we’re turning back to Etienne Higgins as our starting quarterback. The same Etienne Higgins who walked in as a true freshman and led this program to a national championship. The same guy who’s been through the fire before. This isn’t about…” CONT.

“Nostalgia. It’s about leadership. It’s about command. It’s about a standard. Etienne has earned the right to take this team back onto his shoulders.”

I’m probably not the first to suggest this but I have a bit of a Saban conspiracy theory. I think he very obviously knew all along that Cignetti was THAT DUDE but was probably more reluctant to promote him than he was with some of his other disciples.

If that’s it for Ty Simpson, I appreciate everything you’ve given to this University. You could have left, but you stuck it out. You gave it your all and you’ll always have a fan in me.

If Tulane went 13-0, finished top 12, and still got blown out in the CFP, there would be way less animosity toward them because at least they earned their way in. The whole reason for this toxic discourse is the perceived injustice of putting them in over more deserving P4 teams.
