As a teen, Jesse Weeks didn’t think he could become a police officer. He was small, after all, and didn’t feel “tough and strong,” as he thought the job required. But then, in his senior year, he tried out for the football team — can’t hurt, right? — and he made it.

Such it has been that lessons learned in a small-town funeral home on the country’s East Coast have been passed down to officers patrolling the streets of Canada’s biggest city. Speaking of those officers, feel free to say hello.
