This weeks marks seven entire years since we were forced to leave our home so as my child wouldn’t die: The True Story That Changed Everything - UK Medical Cannabis Monday 11th June 2018 - I stood at Heathrow Airport, a desperate mum, begging for the confiscated medicine that was keeping my little boy alive. Billy suffers from a severe, life-threatening form of epilepsy. For over a year, he had been safe and stable thanks to plant based medicine prescribed by our family GP. It gave him peace… it gave us hope. But when that medicine was seized at the airport, our world collapsed. That very Monday, we went straight to the Home Office. I stood face-to-face with the Minister of State for Policing, pleading for Billy’s life. But we were turned away. Tuesday, the seizures returned. Wednesday, they got worse. Thursday, we were terrified. Friday 15th June, Billy was in an ambulance - blue lighted to Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, caught in relentless, continuous seizures. My worst nightmare was happening right in front of me. I was loosing my little boy. Then, just as hope felt gone, came a turning point. Billy’s treating NHS doctor at C&W Hospital negotiated overnight with the Home office and his medicine was returned the very next morning. His case reached Parliament. And we heard the words that changed everything: “Over the weekend, I issued a license-a first for the UK-allowing Billy Caldwell’s medical team to access cannabis-based medicine to treat his life-threatening epilepsy.” Sajid Javid Billy became the first person in the UK to receive a license and his NHS cannabis prescription was reinstated - a UK first again. His battle opened the door - not just for him, but for industry and so many others suffering. In just eight days flat, my brave little boy from foothills of Castlederg took on the British government and won changing a 50-year-old outdated law. He had made history and showed the world what the courage of one child can truly do. Billy, you are my hero. I am so proud of you. Always. Mummy 💜

Zurich launched Züri Can – Cannabis with Responsibility, a scientific initiative designed to study how consumer behavior changes when people have access to legal cannabis within a regulated system - results were so robust and consistent that the country chose to double down on the initiative.
