Trough/foricng likely arrives late next Monday, so thunderstorm potential will be low until later in the evening. Because of this, next Monday will likely be the hottest day with a large area of 100+ degree heat index. Severe weather should be in more in the day time next Tuesday through Thursday, so that should damper the extreme heat to a smaller area.

Patchy Dense Fog will be in and around the Twin Cities until 7 a.m. especially near Lakes and in River Valleys with visibility less than 500 feet in spots.  Isolated T-Storms are also possible until 10 a.m.mainly in the northern suburbs from Lake Minnetonka east to Hudson, Wisconsin and points north.  The rest of Today in the Twin Cities will be Partly Cloudy and Breezy this afternoon with Spotty T-Storms north and east of the Twin Cities.  Temperatures this afternoon will be in the mid 70s and dew point temperatures this afternoon will fall into the more comfortable 50s this afternoon with West-Northwest Winds at 10 to 15 mph.  Partly Cloudy Tonight with Light North Winds and Patchy Fog with lows in the upper 50s.   Thursday and Friday will bring Below Average Highs in the mid 70s Thursday with Partly Cloudy Skies then near 80 Degrees on Friday with Partly Cloudy Skies and an Isolated T-Storm possible.   Extended Outlook: Significant Heat, Humidity and Strong T-Storms on the way from Sunday June 28 through Friday July 3.  Saturday will be Warmer with highs in the low to mid 80s then upper 80s Sunday.  The Heat Wave begins Monday with highs in the low to mid 90s and Heat Index Values of 100 to 105 Degrees. Scattered thunderstorms will develop today east of the Mississippi River, most numerous in Wisconsin. Dry weather will return Thursday through Saturday, then chances increase Saturday night and early Sunday. Intense heat and humidity arrives Sunday afternoon.

I'm keeping a close eye on a large chunk of MN as conditions remain favorable for strong T'Storm development. I'm not expecting a widespread severe weather outbreak, but there appears no doubt that some storms will get feisty between 2pm - 10pm today.

Heat wave expected next week with multiple days of heat indices around 100 degrees and above for a large area. It shouldn't last that long though as mid-latitude ridging breaks down rather quickly later next week.

Elevated risk of severe weather is anticipated on Saturday across the Dakotas, where very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are likely. This looks like a very dynamic storm system that could lead to significant tornadoes. Get ready, folks!
