Big claims for the impact of Palantir here. It can provide useful info which allows the NHS to organise itself better and speed up processes but it’s the staff who carry out ops and see patients. NHS doctors urged to boycott 'ethically bankrupt' Palantir. thetimes.com/article/c8103b…

It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

Absolutely - ultimately the patients suffer. Last year there were 10000 applicants for 500 psychiatry places - when mental healthcare is in crisis. We struggle to see a GP and yet GP training places are also heavily oversubscribed.
Diane Abbott@HackneyAbbott

This is bizarre and unjustifiable. Starmer is punishing the NHS, meaning all of us, because he cannot force doctors to accept his pay offer. Voters will remember this in May. Starmer withdraws offer of extra training places  to punish resident doctors thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…

@doctor_oxford Improving health/ narrowing health inequities need longer a concern. We’re regressing. As to ‘just go private’ my ongoing, essential psychiatrist care = £4000 p/a (NHS given up on SMIs). If you’ve had cancer or other pre-existing forget getting cover.

Whatever you think about resident doctor strikes, the govt's decision to downgrade the NHS by - yes, you read that right - "reducing reliance on doctors" is appallingly short-sighted. This will punish patients, who have a right to access high quality care from appropriately qualified medical professionals. How exactly is improving the NHS compatible with reducing its numbers of doctors, @wesstreeting? This is exactly what Jim Mackey appears to be announcing 😳

@ItsEmilyKaty I’m so sorry you’re going through this Emily. Solidarity for all who are experiencing similar, all those that have been left by the wayside (shout out to ‘EUPD’ 👋🏻). Finally, all of those who are no longer with us due to systematic bias and failings.

I don’t have a lot to say this autism awareness month considering I’m sectioned in hospital, but what I would like to know is why so many autistic people have to end up unwell and in mental health hospitals, and when that is going to change.

Just appalled that the response to the campaign’s failure to successfully navigate the full parliamentary process including scrutiny, for their PMB is to next time fully stack the committee with yes people, and they call it democratic! news.sky.com/story/how-fox-…

@AshleyDalton_MP @RajivShah90 KL’s Committee approach akin to picking playground football team not systematic evidence gathering (by design and her inability). Ultimate blame lies Starmer and his ‘celebrity’ promise. In the meantime govt continues to relegate/underfund disability, social and palliative care.

Whichever clinician came up with this idea around Advice & guidance in @NHSEngland needs to step forward and own their decision And explain their thinking process Cos I ain't just rejecting GP referrals to hit a percentage. I will accept referrals as dictated by clinical need

I’ve been distracted by other matters for the last few days and have missed a lot of the discussion around Advice and Guidance, soon I believe to be mandatory. Can anyone pls tell me: if a GP wants to make an urgent poss cancer referral (the old 2ww), is this still possible?

@gracebrod1e I suggest you take a forensic look at primary v secondary funding models and productivity comparisons (former less funding but higher productivity). Oh, and before you ‘speak to the manager’ do remember that your GP can longer allowed to refer directly. Govt policy.

@areyoflight For context this is a DHSC policy being imposed on Primary Care. The majority of GPs are very much against it, but neither they, or patients* have been consulted.

As a disabled chronically ill person, this TERRIFIES me 😨 Labour now forces GPs to bounce back 1/4 hospital referrals ⚠️ Hospitals paid £33 per patient removed 💰 GPs paid £20 for every avoided referral. So when Labour says they’re “cutting waiting lists”…this is what they mean. They’re not increasing care. They’re rationing it to hit targets 📉 It’s not just us at risk. It’s EVERYONE 🚨 - your family, your neighbours, anyone who gets ill. When you need that specialist… the gate slams shut 😡 We should all be furious about this. It will cost lives. 🔥

Bipolar disorder is a severe mental illness and has one of the highest mortality rates of any mental illness. Let us mark today by remembering those who have lost their lives, and those who are still here, thanks to effective treatment.
