@action4life @OutOfTheVines @Boost3383 Maybe ask any old timers still around what it was like in New York when the Giants and Dodgers were basically in that situation. Or the Angeles and Dodgers now. Giants and A’s until recently.

@OutOfTheVines @Boost3383 If they are in the same divisions, you essentially lose home games for each team when they play each other. Plus, you'd have the same teams playing in the city often. The old schedule vs division, you'd have the Pirates with 18 games in Chicago. Not good for $$$ in general

@DAVEXEETS Alcantara is in AAA learning to hit consistently while Shaw is in RF learning how to play RF & hit consistently. Meanwhile, the best DH is injured (Suzuki) & the best defender in RF is either Conforto (who can’t hit) or Carlson (who can’t either). Losing Cassie & Tucker hurt.

@CubsSkipper @bobstewart66 You hope to get off to a good start early in the season. Especially when you play two teams that probably aren’t going anywhere this year. Concerns - DH and RF. Suzuki will eventually fill one of those spots, but you are basically hoping two DH’s fill them both. Need a RFer.

@bobstewart66 I’m the one who never overreacts. But nothing I said was wrong. This team will be fine, but it’s still a very annoying start against bad teams.

Conforto is so washed. This lineup needs Suzuki. This bullpen still needs another flame thrower. This opening home-stand is a failure. I hate it, and can’t wait for tomorrow.

@SureBetFusion Well, he won the most National Titles while at UCLA. And had some very long winning streaks. But, in those days, sometimes the #2 in the nation didn’t make the NCAA Tournament. And there were no where near 64 (or 68) teams in it then.

@BOSSportsGordo I was in Central America once, visiting a Volcanic Park. The parking area had signs saying to back into the parking spots, so in case of an eruption, you can get out quickly. So I did. 😊

@BBallImmersion I would say, 1) more drills on important, basic fundamentals, and 2) more 3 on 3 and less 5 on 5.

@aarond23 @johnbohnenkamp Some states have them, I have been told. But, I don’t know why. As you said, they went out of favor long ago. I guess a 3rd place (consolation) banner was once something though.

@CoachCherry93 Wrong. Blindly dribble-turning around was the mistake. Pivot to face up court, don’t dribble yet. Then decide. Pass? Eat it and get fouled?

I see what Cayden Boozer was trying to do. He made the right decision it just was not executed correctly. He had two wide open teammates, Isaiah Evans and Patrick Ngongba, ahead of him down the court. He tried to get it to them. Right decision.

@Sports_Kings_ No Duke Fans would be complaining about all of this IF: 1. Christian Laettner was there at the end to catch the long pass and hit a jumper. 2. Cayden Boozer had just caught the pass, not dribbled but just pivoted around, and held onto the ball until fouled.

@CoachHackGO @coach_geisel Kids being kids will jack a 3 anytime they get a chance with those rules. I prefer they attack the basket more, then if stopped, kick out for an open 3. I see your point on the defense, but don’t really see it happening except on really good shooters (sometimes) in off season.

@coach_geisel Kinda the point. Incentivize guarding the 3 or you can get run off the court quickly. The defense doesn’t have to just allow the offense to shoot threes

@coachk6463 @CoachSamAllen I still say the problem was with the pass caught, player reverse pivot right while trying to dribble right handed, getting caught out of control, not seeing the situation. It was sudden panic & a quick attempt to pass over a double team. Catch, pivot, face downcourt, decide.

@CoachSamAllen You can pass over the top out of a trap but you have to make a pass fake that gets the defenders' hands downs to do it. Catching & firing it over the top will almost never work.

Passing out of TRAPS The #DukeUConn game last night is another example (just on a national stage) of what I see at all levels… Players trying to pass over the top of traps…that rarely is the right basketball play unless you are a Big or player with great length Faking high and bounce passes around the defenders or step-thru after a fake is the play 95% of the time to make

@scottguzman Doesn't make sense to me when I see a player make a right hand layup on left side & coach yell "use left hand". Then next time player misses a left hand layup & coach yells "FINISH". Can't have it both ways.

Coaches saying “use your left hand on the left side” are teaching a bad habit. It creates hesitation disguised as fundamentals. Strong hand. Weak hand. Doesn’t matter. If it goes in, it was the right decision. 💯

@coach_jb1 @scottguzman You could practice it & get it done eventually. Never had a kid who couldn’t shoot a layup with his off-hand as a Senior, because they worked on it frosh year on. I didn’t force it, I encouraged it. But….I never asked my Bigs to use their weaker hand on their inside Power Shots.

@CoachSamAllen How about burning a dribble blindly turning around before seeing a double coming? Or trying a pass when hanging on would have drawn a foul from a desperate team trailing very late in a game? Basically, freshman mistakes by a player who only played on great teams that won a lot.

@barstoolsports Dude watched all that and came away believing the officials should have bailed out Duke's junior high execution of their press offense by calling a tech on a UCONN assistant for running on the floor. Priceless!
