@EmmaSzewczak "Yard" is what we say instead of "garden". In the US a garden has flowers; a yard is a grassy space behind or beside your house, which may or may not be fenced in.

My kids have started playing out in the street recently and my god the hostility from random passing strangers/neighbours!

It will be hard to be anywhere in the Upper West Side at night without subconsciously listening for Flaco’s hoots, even if he is no longer here to share that magical sound with us.

Yo, I'm watching a hilarious show on Netflix called "Resident Alien" about an alien who crash lands in Colorado and is masquerading as a human. And only a kid can see that he's alien. This dude hasn't learned how to laugh yet, and every time he tries he looks like Ron DeSantis. 🤣 Highly recommend! 9 out of 10. 👍👍

Dante can no longer get on the bed, so we are bringing the bed to Dante. The new Sunshine Hill Pack bedroom. Sadly, a more complete ultrasound on Thursday found a large and fast growing tumor in the liver, and it’s now 100% cancer as the diagnosis, that has metastasized in the lungs and elsewhere. There is nothing the vet can do. My poor Dante is slowing down fast and the vet thinks we have weeks at best. I am pretty devastated. Dante is my true love, a beautiful goofy boy. He sleeps with his head on my shoulder and tells me stories with his talking bark. I knew this was coming as he is twelve and a large shepherd, but it doesn’t make it any easier. We will keep him comfortable until it’s time to go to that next place.

There are only two aspects of living in Chicago that I feel like we lose to New York. One. The bodega bacon egg and cheese sandwich ubiquity. Chicago has failed there. Two. The vibrant 24 hour a day NYC restaurant culture. The 2am-6am eating options in this city are sparse.
