As I sit down to write lesson plans for next week (for students who will be staying home), I know one thing: my students need to write daily about this time in history. They need to capture this moment in time.

The end of their senior year has essentially been canceled: no more sports, field trips, assemblies. Prom has been canceled. I want them to capture this unprecedented moment.

I also want them to write how this is affecting their families, their communities. I am going to have them start by reading this excellent article, which I will post as an article of the week later today: theatlantic.com/family/archive…
