Div 19 has been focusing on what different feelings look like. How does an angry face differ from a sad face? What clues can someone’s face give you to help determine how they’re feeling? Here, students showcase tired, happy & frustrated using natural material self portraits!

Planting our own tiny seeds! One of our wonders at the beginning of our plant inquiry was “what is inside a seed?” As we were planting today, we discovered some seeds that had split open in the package. So fun exploring & coming up with even more wonders!! #sd36learn

Before we can support and celebrate the cultures of others, we need to recognize and evaluate our own culture! Term 1 was all about familiarizing ourself with our own culture & now we can recognize the importance and influence of the cultures of others! #LunarNewYear

The Ss in Ms. Smith’s gr. 7 class, have been raising awareness on the need for an all gender washroom. They created videos for classes to watch & had a petition for Ss to sign. They held a peaceful rally, and today we unveiled the All Gender Washroom 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈@mbsanford36 #sd36learn

Pumpkin math & pumpkin science! How many unifex cubes tall are our pumpkins? Will a pumpkin sink or float in a bucket of water? We now wonder - why does a pumpkin float if it’s heavy? #SD36learn

@LizMcCaw1 That sounds wonderful! I love the idea of mixing colours of paint. Maybe I’ll give that one a try this week! Can’t wait to see a photo !!!

@TheTeacherMel Thank you for sharing, We sat at tables with pumpkins of different sizes and sketched with sharpies onto orange paper. Then they mixed orange/red paint and painted. It is so true, trust them!!! I will post a photo when back at school.

Still life pumpkin paintings! We sat in a circle on the carpet around 1 of our class pumpkins. We studied it before drawing, outlining in sharpie, and then painting using watercolours! When seen as capable, 4&5 year olds are capable of anything. #sd36learn
