There’s a foreign influence operation trying to trick us into war with Turkey. Don’t let them.

@NoLayingUp @byrumbrownera I know what you’re saying, but as Byrum noted, you wouldn’t be surprised if you had recalibrated your expectations of southern American golf fans to be much, much lower

I have no idea what Matt Fitzpatrick has done to get treated like he's prime Ian Poulter from the galleries but it's really unnecessary.

While criticism of Hasan is good, almost everyone in the mainstream is falling into the trap of Hasan's dishonest framing of the issue. (Looking at you @ezraklein) It's not about Israel. Every time someone makes it about Israel, Hasan is winning the framing argument. The mainstream left and the Dems should be anti-Hasan because he hates liberals, liberalism, individualism, western democracy, supports terrorism and violent terrorist actions and organizations. And yes, is a champagne socialist. (Who like all good socialist is a hypocrite obsessed with buying luxury brand name goods.) You should bring up that he supports people who cheer on Oct 7th, talks about intentionally bringing people down radicalization pipelines to pro-Oct 7th pundits, and supports the Houthi's kidnapping civilian sailors. But it doesn't matter that it's connected to Israel. It matters that he supports brutal violence against civilians. That is what should be focused on. Hasan supports these actions against all western democracies. Hence the, "America deserved 9/11" quote he is so infamous for. This is why he also supports China, downplays anything bad they do, and supports North Korea. Making it about Israel is missing the forest for the trees. It's only the tip of a deep iceberg. Hasan's framing on Israel is just the issue of the day used to soften people up and smuggle in the radical beliefs.

Hasan Piker is an authoritarian. So is Netanyahu. If liberal Zionists want to survive, they must fight both. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/04/…

Corey Booker is NOT mocking anyone. He's telling the fucking TRUTH. The far left had 90% chance of working with Haris as president and 0% chance of working with Trump. That's what Booker is talking about. NO ONE is harassing or heckle Trump about Gaza now. Shut the fuck up. 🤡
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

I tried to tell people who didn’t vote Dem in 2024 ‘to teach Democrats a lesson’ that sadly Democrats will never learn that lesson. Here’s Booker simply attacking and mocking people who didn’t show up to vote Dem. It’s always the voters’ fault, never the Dems or their candidates.

Why is it that the far left is always trying to “teach Democrats a lesson,” but never — and I mean NEVER — trying to teach Republicans a lesson??? It always “the Democrats have terrible candidates,” while they enable filth like Trump to shape the Supreme Court.

@ajalexander944 Harris didn't endorse a single Progressive policy. Not one. Neoliberals have done nothing but weaponize ineffectual incrementalism to excuse their inability to get anything done. They lost to a fascist twice, maybe you'd finally get the fucking hint.

My guess on the big, medium-term take-aways from the Iran war 1. Iran has learned that it can close & charge Hormuz at will 2. China has learned that the US is overstretched 3. Europe has learned NATO is a dead letter until the GOP de-trumpizes, which is at least a decade away

@ToniGering @CBSEveningNews You realize news channels have capacity to cover more the one story at a time, don’t you? Ever read a newspaper? Or watched the evening news? Or opened a news website or app? Anyway, here’s CBS covering the murdered scientists just TWO DAYS AGO: thenationaldesk.com/news/americas-…

@TraceJoyWar @wdseelig @JeremiahDJohns @JonahDispatch Are you going to tell me that the DOD/DOW behaves no differently if led by Pete Hegseth vs. Lloyd Austin? That HHS is no different under RFK, Jr. than under Kathleen Sebelius? Or most obviously, that DOJ and FBI act no differently under Bondi and Patel than Sessions and Comey?

@GenXGrumpy @wdseelig @JeremiahDJohns @JonahDispatch Political appointees in the agency secretary, assistant secretary, deputy assistant secretary, and other senior positions make the real decisions — wha gets prioritized and gets resourced, in line with the White House’s policies. The career people execute.

@TheValeMark @wdseelig @JeremiahDJohns @JonahDispatch I worked for the federal government for over 40 years. He's correct. Only certain long term dem politicians have any clout. Senior career democrat SES employees run everything. If they don't like a presidential policy, the slow it down or just won't implement it.

I went to Stanford's grad school of education where Boaler was working before I knew how bad the state of education science is and how among other things ed grad school doesn't replicably make teachers better. I wasn't teaching math so we never interacted, but she was talked about universally as the main celebrity there. Never saw any pushback and I didn't look into the specifics of what she was about until later. Talking about how bad the state of education science is as a teacher can make you sound like a conspiracy theorist, it's hard to communicate in a way that sounds grounded how fake a lot of the things being promoted by prestigious institutions are. I'm really excited Kelsey's taken this problem on because there needs to be a lot more good thorough writing on it. Wish this wasn't paywalled so I could share it with more people but imo it's worth the subscription. theargumentmag.com/p/education-re…
