I understand that people want to feel seen. But is it fair to ask BIPOC authors to include other groups’ histories in a book that’s clearly working through specific lens? #booktwt #writingcommynity #bloodslaves

The assumption seems to be “If my ancestors were in that region, I should be represented too.” But does sharing geography mean every story must acknowledge every lineage? Especially when the story is intentionally focused on Black history or identity? #bloodslaves

I’ve been thinking about how often Black-centered stories are asked to “make room” for other histories. It’s something I’ve seen recently in discourse around "Blood Slaves," which centers Black vampires in the American South. 🧵 #booktwt #writingcommunity
