Congratulations to Dr. Chrysalyne Schmults for receiving a R03 grant, “Early investigation of the role of desmoplastic fibrosis in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma,” from NCI. #Desmoplasia is associated with poor outcomes for these patients but the mechanism is unknown. @theNCI

Congratulations to Dr. Allen Ho for being awarded a K08 award from the NIH! “Mechanisms of IL-23 receptor-mediated pathogenicity in CD4+ T cells” will investigate how immune cells respond to inflammatory signals in cutaneous lupus and develop targeted therapies.

“As a group, we understand that all skin and all hair are not equal,” said Dr. Deborah Scott. Dr. Scott helped launch the Skin of Color Dermatology Program at the #Brigham, which works with patients of color to address specific skin and hair needs. fal.cn/3gnoO

Dr. LaChance’s research will explore the role of the JAK/STAT pathway in cutaneous lupus, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis, and morphea using gene expression profiling and immunostaining. Her studies have the potential to identify new uses for Jak inhibitors in the clinic.
