When demand is strong enough, the secondary market can become the leading indicator of a looming primary sellout. Don Toliver at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on June 5 is a clean example.

Gracie Abrams is not Olivia Rodrigo in terms of tour demand. Across the tour, secondary capacity share is currently averaging 17.8%. When demand is softer than expected, secondary supply tends to expand. That can reflect tighter controls, less committed fans, or possibly mirrored listings.

@TicketVisionHQ @gracieabrams Was waiting for your post giving props to Ticketmaster for using persona to keep brokers away and having 2-3% of inventory on secondary market.

The NBA Finals market is showing two very different realities. Game 1 in San Antonio is falling off a cliff, now down to a $580 get-in. A potential Game 6 at MSG is still sitting at $6,035. That’s more than 10x the price for the same series.

Knicks @ Spurs Game 1 is hours away and there is still $742,000 worth of tickets available from the box office, in addition to 1,800 tickets on the secondary market. If the Spurs don’t dynamic prices down, there are going to be empty seats at tipoff. There are still seats for ~$19,000 per ticket available

Less than 24 hours before NBA Finals Game 1, the Spurs box office is almost sold out with only ~250 primary tickets remaining. Those tickets still represent over $771,000 in remaining box office inventory. The most expensive remaining primary seats are listed at over $19,000 per ticket from the box office. Meanwhile, there are still 2,259 tickets available on the secondary market, with get-in price holding steady around $660. Pricing is likely to get volatile heading into tipoff.

New TicketVision feature: overlay secondary market price directly on top of primary market supply. This makes it much easier to see how the secondary market responds as primary inventory tightens

After the Spurs punched their ticket to the Finals, the secondary market for Game 1 vs. the Knicks started cracking fast. Get-in price has fallen from $1,275 to $688 in just 72 hours. More notably, secondary supply is also up 3.3% in the past 24 hours. Falling prices + rising supply is usually a recipe for further price decay unless demand steps in quickly.

Thunder at Spurs Game 6 has seen major downward price pressure. Secondary get-in is now $160, down more than 60% over the last 7 days. Secondary supply spiked hard yesterday, then pulled back roughly 40% in the last 24 hours. This is why live ticket market data matters. The market is constantly repricing.
