$550 investment to $80,000+/monthly revenue in 11 months. Here’s how ⬇️ 1. Formed an LLC for $550 2. Posted in a community FB group 3. Completed $8,000 month 1 from that group 4. Joined more FB groups and grew to roughly $12,000/mo 5. Quit my day job and went full time 6. Rebranded and formed a GMB focused on reviews 7. 215+ reviews in 11 months 8. Hired a CFO and our first few techs 9. Seller financed a Van off FB marketplace 10. Wrapped vehicles, got an office, reinvested profit into marketing 11. Just hit $80k/mo in revenue and will do $1.3-1.5m this year. Never ran a business, never completed a repair myself, trusted those around me, empowered all employees to take risk and make decisions… our growth so far is unstoppable. We are learning every day.

@sam_allsopp_ Love it - do you follow any specific sales process or did you develop that in house? Any recommendations on a process would be amazing!

Would you pay $29/month for a home care membership that includes discounts and priority booking for handyman, lawn care, pest control, exterior cleaning, and junk removal? What if it also included a free annual home health inspection and one free junk removal per year? Validating an idea..

Home service businesses that absolutely crush as a solo op and suck balls at scale: 1. Any sort of custom remodeling (bathrooms, kitchens, etc) 2. Pressure washing 3. Landscape lighting 4. Painting 5. Handyman

Seems like cashflow is the largest stressor in small home service businesses. Curious how you’ve handled stressful cash weeks and what you did to get ahead?

Jordan Dublin - Guild Garage sold for $800M Listened to an episode with him - here is what he was looking for... 1) The next frontier that wasn't HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical 2) Residential home service with a $10B TAM 3) One Precedented transaction we could point to, in his case A1 Garage That was in 2024 - What do we think he would choose in 2026???
Mike Botkin@MikeBotkin_

If I was going to start a home service business tomorrow here’s what I’d do. 1. Order yard signs, and door hangers 2. Put those MF’s everywhere 3. Join local FB groups and message everyone who’s recently asked for that service 4. Get my GBP up and running focused on frequency of reviews 5. Wrap my vehicle 6. Door knock (depending on service) 7. Join a BNI group 8. Document everything 9. Literally call everyone in my phone contacts asking if they needed services Anyways I’m gonna go start a junk removal company. BRB

@TimFlynnLeary Many years ago my wife was in BNI and got peer pressured into using some idiot to remodel our bathroom that was in her group. It was so bad I ripped it out and redid it myself.

Honestly I got into business to make money. Sure other reasons have become super apparent but the reason I decided to be an entrepreneur was absolutely money.. I also don’t think that’s a bad thing, or should be frowned upon. Anyways, cheers!

It's crazy how far you can get without being organized or having an operating system in place as a business. We got to over $1m in revenue by absolutely winging it. Good times

Imagine hiring a real estate agent and they say: “Instead of commission, we’ll charge you hourly.” If your home sells in one weekend, they make very little. If it sits on the market for six months, they make a lot more. That makes no sense. The best outcome for you — selling quickly — would mean your agent gets paid less, while a slow, stressful sale would mean they earn more. That’s completely misaligned incentives. That’s why real estate uses commission. You’re paying for the result, not the hours. Home services work the same way. Sometimes clients say, “Well it didn’t take as long as expected, can we get a discount?” But finishing faster isn’t reduced value — it’s expertise. You’re not paying for how long the job takes. You’re paying for the experience and skill to solve the problem correctly and efficiently.

I can’t believe some people still charge by the hour. Charging hourly means getting paid less for being better at what you do.

People call handymen for about everything under the sun - my hack is that we are going to use our handyman company to generate leads for all our other future companies for a fraction of the cost ... because no other handyman companies are paying for ads I'm so smart
