A wonderfully large public attendance at the Leeds Civic Observance of Remembrance Sunday at The War Memorial on The Headrow. As well as my wife Di I was also accompanied by The Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Natasha Chamberlain who read a poem so well during the service.

Re-Start a Heart Day today saw many schools in West Yorkshire take part in practising CPR under the expert instruction of The Ambulance Service. I was present at Rida Girls High School and St John Fisher in Dewsbury and Upper Batley High School in Batley.

So pleased and honoured to plant a beautiful birch tree at Blenheim Primary School in Leeds with The Lord Mayor on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen to celebrate her 70 years since she succeeded to the throne.

An honour to represent The Lord-Lieutenant at Bradford Cathedral for a Combined Remembrance Service for Armed Services Week this morning incorporating the annual Drumhead Service and remembering the sacrifice made by the Bradford Pals in the First World War.

Flag raising ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week 2021 in Bradford today at 11am. The mark of any civilised nation is the way it supports those who fight for their country. They are an integral part of who we are as a nation and an inspiration to us all.

An honour to represent The Lord-Lieutenant last evening at the Commemoration Service for HRH Prince Philip at St. Mary’s Church in Mirfield led by The Rev’d Hugh Baker with The Mayor Martyn Bolt also in attendance and 13 others.

Remembrance Sunday started with a lone visit to lay a wreath at The War Memorial in Wakefield and the photo is of the unknown soldier in Batley Memorial Gardens where The Lord-Lieutenants wreath was laid at a socially distanced service arranged by Father Martin attended by 100+

Despite the weather much enjoyed yesterday at Strensall Camp with the Town Mayor of Otley Cllr Peter Jackson. We watched 144 cadets from various areas around Leeds and Bradford including the Otley Detachment Army Cadets being trained in several disciplines.

A full house for Carols by Candlelight at Wakefield Cathedral with the Choir of Wakefield Cathedral led by Director of Music Tom Moore was really superb this evening and justifies the view that they are one of the very best choirs around.
