There can be only two possibilities:
1. Rapinoe sincerely believes that males competing against females in sport is safe & fair; revealing a weird denial of her real-life experience as a female player ⚽️. (She was trounced by teenaged boys in a scrimmage.)
OR
2. Rapinoe is getting some sort of remuneration to advocate against the interests of women & girls in sports; revealing a depth of depravity so extreme as to portend a devastating ROI for her benefactors.
Either way her stance is “Legend-defeating.”
