Absolutely spot on. Combat sports not only teaches you how to fight, but also shows you the reality of violence, teaches you a way to master your emotions and even transmute them. It is physical chess, except much harder than the real one. And the amount of persistence you need to get good at it - surpasses any other sport or skill. Therefore, if you practice it religiously(not in a reckless way) - you are bound to get better in other areas of life.
