If I open a new channel today, and I consistently engage on large creators videos in my niche and leave strong thoughtful comments, some viewers will naturally become curious and visit my channel. Now the important part. If my content is genuinely good, those viewers will watch, engage, and give YouTube valuable signals about who enjoys my videos. That’s not the algorithm rewarding comments. It’s the algorithm responding to real viewers who discovered my content through my activity. Warming up isn’t about tricking YouTube. It’s about putting your content in front of the right people while YouTube is still learning who your audience is. Think about it like this: 1. You engage meaningfully on creators in your niche. 2. Their audience notices your comment. 3. Some click your profile. 4. Some watch your videos. 5. If your videos are genuinely good (CTR + retention), those viewers send positive signals. Remember the algorithm is programmed as a loop, to work based on individuals interest, now it used those signals to better understand who enjoys your content. It’s just like opening a new alcohol shop in a huge market. The market has different sections. Some people are buying clothes. Some are buying phones. Some are buying books. Some are buying food. But your business is alcohol. If you simply sit in your new shop waiting for customers, you’ll eventually get some, but it’ll probably take longer. A smarter approach is to spend time around the other popular alcohol shops. You interact with people there, build relationships, and say valuable things about drinks. Naturally, some of those customers become curious and visit your shop. If your drinks are actually good, they’ll buy from you, come back, and even recommend you to others. That’s exactly how I see warming up a YouTube channel. You’re not forcing YouTube to recommend your videos. You’re simply putting your content in front of people who are already interested in your niche. What happens after that depends on the quality of your content.
