It can't be João Neves that Florentino Pérez is referring to, innit? Maybe I'm missing something, but if the mystery €150m player is actually Neves, then I'm struggling to see the fit at Real Madrid. Don't get me wrong, Neves is an exceptional talent. He's one of the best young midfielders in Europe and has looked outstanding at PSG. But football isn't just about collecting great players. It's about finding players that suit your system. PSG and Madrid play very different football. At PSG, Neves thrives in a structured possession-heavy setup where midfielders are constantly involved in dictating tempo, circulating the ball and executing coordinated pressing patterns. The system amplifies his strengths. Madrid, on the other hand, have traditionally relied more on athleticism, transitions, individual brilliance and giving elite players freedom to express themselves. That's a completely different environment. For €150m, I'd expect a player who instantly transforms the team or fills a glaring need. Neves is brilliant, but I'm not convinced he's the profile Madrid need right now. In fact, if this rumour is true, I think the bigger question isn't whether Neves is good enough for Madrid. It's whether Madrid are the right team for Neves. Great player. Massive talent. But I'm not seeing the obvious fit everyone else seems to be seeing.
