It is interesting though that in a sea of generic, white hockey romances, the adaptation that was the break out hit and a cultural phenomenon unlike anything we’ve seen in a very long time was the one that was queer and featured a biracial main character. There’s a lesson there.

hockey is THE most popular sport in the sports romance genre and jacob was right to recognize that. that’s why he optioned heated rivalry. he knew what adaptation explosion was about to happen and that he needed to get ahead of the curve.
